Golf with your mates · for iPhone

Who gets a shot, and where.

Add your group, pick the course and the game. Strokes Given works out everyone's shots hole by hole, shows the maths, and keeps the score as you play.

No account and no sign-up. Your players, scores and notes stay on your phone.

The first tee, settled

Sam plays off 4.2. Jordan plays off 15.1. How many shots?

A singles match off the white tees: rating 70.6, slope 125, par 72. This is the sum the app does for you, using the same handicap index you have in the Golf Australia app.

Course handicap

Sam 4.2 × 125 ÷ 113 + (70.6 − 72) = 3.25 → 3

Jordan 15.1 × 125 ÷ 113 + (70.6 − 72) = 15.30 → 15

Singles allowance

Full course handicap, 100%. The higher player gets the difference.

Dots mark Jordan's shots. Strokes Given doesn't work out your handicap index. You type it in from the Golf Australia app, and it flags any index you haven't updated in over a month.

Eight games

Every game has its own allowance. It knows them all.

Pick the game and the playing handicaps follow. Then make the teams: pick your own, let it make fair teams from everyone's handicaps, or leave it to a tee flip.

A hole map with the distance to the middle of the green, and to the front and back
On the course

The hole, and how far to the green.

Pick your course from more than 1,400 Australian courses. Where a course is mapped on OpenStreetMap, you get each hole drawn out with the distance to the middle, front and back of the green, from where you're standing. Tap the green to mark today's pin.

Score each hole as you go. The points, the match and the leaderboard update for every player in your group, with your swing thought for the day and your notes for that hole on the same screen.

A golf trip: Team Blue against Team Red, with the sessions played and the cup score
The golf trip

Two teams. One cup. All weekend.

Set up the trip once: everyone who's coming, split into two teams, fairly or by random draw, in your own team names and colours. Each session can be any game, and every result rolls into one cup score.

Pairings by closest handicaps, the fairest matches, or a random draw. If the numbers are odd, it tells you who's without a game before you tee off.
